What happens in case of a car accident for which you are not guilty, but your car is damaged?
In case of damage to your vehicle caused by another vehicle, you should file a claim in the insurance company in which the person who caused the damage was insured. But if your vehicle is damaged by an uninsured vehicle, then you file a claim in the insurance company where you are insured.
When the damage is caused by an unknown vehicle, no compensation for damage can be claimed. You can only claim a compensation claim in case of non-pecuniary damage, which involves bodily injury, health or death. In that case, the application is submitted to the National Insurance Bureau.
If the damage to your vehicle is caused by a foreign vehicle, the claim should be submitted to the National Insurance Bureau or to the insurance company in our country that has concluded a correspondence agreement with the responsible foreign insurance company. You can ask for such information at the National Insurance Bureau.
